Government

Rhode Island has no county government. It is divided into 39 municipalities, each having its own form of local government. The General Assembly, Rhode Island's legislature, consists of a 50-seat senate and 100-seat house, with members of both bodies elected for two years. The term of the Governor and general officers is four years. The state is represented in the U.S. Congress by two senators and two representatives and has four electoral votes.
