Ron Hirschauer Ron was born in the modern Chicago suburb of Morton Grove in the early 1960’s, grew up in western Connecticut and moved to Providence in 1990. He was first introduced to Colonial and Victorian architecture in Connecticut. His father was an avid history buff and instilled in Ron an appreciation of architecture and architectural history. Ron and his partner have restored their 1894 Victorian home in the Southern Elmwood Historic District. They have taken the single family home back from its 1940’s 4-family modification, replacing original details where necessary. Ron and his partner have a passion for historic architecture and have recently resigned from their 20 year careers to become involved in preservation and restoration of historic buildings on a full-time basis. They believe strongly in the vitality of Providence’s urban neighborhoods and view the preservation of Providence’s rich and varied architectural heritage to be a building block of community revitalization, and a key to it’s continued success as a very “livable city”. Ron graduated with a BA in Social Work with minors in psychology and humanities from Western Connecticut State University. He also has a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University. His career in behavioral health as a clinician, supervisor, and manager, combined with his passion for historic architecture and many years of experience with historic restoration of his own home, has provided him with a unique blend of understanding people and historic homes, both with their tremendously varied needs. He became licensed to sell real estate in 2005 and joined the Armory Properties family thereafter. Ron also enjoys photography, gardening and working on the many projects related to their own properties. |
