The area I cover is ideally located on the Rhode Island/Connecticut border with the "twin" towns of Westerly, RI and Pawcatuck, CT as the starting point. Drive a few miles into Connecticut and you find yourself in historic Stonington and Mystic, with its numerous attractions. Go the other way and Rhode Island offers miles of pristine beaches from Westerly and Charlestown to Narragansett. Or venture inland, where towns like Ashaway, Hope Valley, Carolina and Kingston bring back memories of what the old country must have looked like in grandpa's days: shady country lanes, bucolic farmhouses, horses, cows, sheep and flocks of geese in stone-walled meadows.
While we are on the subject of food: historic inns and quality restaurants abound all over the area, offering local specialties as well as traditional American and ethnic fare. Business people will find Green Airport a mere 30 minutes away. The airport has undergone an extensive overhaul and offers frequent flights to major cities nationwide.
