As of 2000, According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Bristol County RI was 50,648. The estimated population in 2004 was 52,989. This was an increase of 4.62% from the 2000 census. The county has a total area of 45 square miles, of which, 25 square miles of it is land and 20 square miles of it (44.80%) is water.
The Census Bureau also reports Bristol County as one of two counties in the country with a plurality Portuguese population (the other being the contiguous Bristol County, Massachusetts).
